TWIM delivered yet another stellar performance as our TWIMsters competed in the Last Gasp of Summer open-water swim at Angle Lake this past Saturday.
Reliable sources tell us that the meet was very well run by Mike Murphy of USMS officiating fame.
The lake was calm and water temperature was doable.
Plus there was great food, fun people, good cheer and lots of raffle prizes.
The inimitable Zena Courtney was the first female to finish the 1 mile wetsuit race and garnered a 7th place overall when you include the big, bad men 🙂
Carl B. Haynie was first in his age group in the 1 mile wetsuit gambit, finishing 4th overall.
Brother Maoz took 2nd in his age group in the 2 mile wetsuit race. Way to conquer the toughest one Maoz!
Last but not least, Coach Brian G captured 2nd in his age group in the 1 mile wetsuit race . Our sources tell us that he, like Maoz, was up against a ringer. People are always after the Big Guns.
The very next day the indefatigable Ms. Courtney was the Race Director for the AquaRun For A Child at Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. The event was a huge success and witnessed some big time open- water swimming- wow but those people were crazy, taking on the chilly waters of the Puget Sound with such courage!
