Fellow TWIMmer Learns from the Greats!

Nick Thoman (2012 Olympic Silver medalist in the 100 back) and Megan Romano (2013 World Championships silver medalist in the 100 free) held a backstroke clinic in Kirkland recently, and our own Tom Fritschen was there!  Nick is one of the best underwater kickers on the planet, and his 2009 short course meter backstroke World Record still stands today.  As for Megan, she chased down Australia’s Alicia Coutts in the anchor leg of the 4 x 100 free relay in Barcelona to take gold for the USA at the 2013 Worlds.

Tom found the clinic very informative, especially with regard to vertical dolphin kick drills in the deep end, first with hands out, then with forearms out, then in streamline.  Nick was telling folks that the point of the drill was to find your kick style and speed.  Okay, Tom, now teach us, please!
