TWIM is finishing off the year with a cosmic blast! Where to begin?
The 2015 Long Course Meters (LCM) season came to a close and the official Top Ten National rankings have just been published by age group. Three TWIM-mers: Betsey Kassen, Zena Courtney and Carl Haynie secured individual Top 10 National times!
The legendary Zena reached All American status with her 100 Back time!!! She also ranked 2nd in the 200 Back, 3rd in the 50 Back, 7th in the 200 Free, and 8th in the 200 Free! She keeps showing why she’s a legend!
In her spare time Zena also set a National record as part of the PSM 200 Free Relay and her 200 Medley relay team also recorded the fastest time of the year.
Our own beloved Carl Haynie reached 4th in the 100 Back, 9th in the 200 Back and 10th in the 50 Back. Just another day at the office for MC!
Betsey “ The Machine” Kassen was 8th fastest in the nation in the 1500 free and 10th fastest in the 800 Free. Way to go Machine! Betsey, Carl, and Zena also teamed up to record the 4th fastest 800 Free Relay time of the year.
Yours truly was part of the 200 Free relay team with my good friend Gary Campen as we achieved an 8th place ranking for 2015!
Moving right along, our TWIM Distance Champions kicked it in the 2015 e- Postal bonanza!
Tammy Regan- Koppelberger hammered out those yards in 43:05:67, closely followed by Betsey at 43:40:46. The indefatigable Tom Fritschen nailed it down in 51:34:04 with our wonderful Coach Heather on his trail as she brought it home in 52:42:01. Not bad for a gal who never trains and very rarely sleeps!
