Good afternoon TWIM and the happiest of holidays to you and to your families! We can all be very proud of our aquatic accomplishments this year, both as individual swimmers and as TWIM!
So many great swims, so many great relays, and so much heart!!!
As I look back through the shadowy mists of time, I remember that meet so long ago at Mt. Hood CC when Betsey, MC and I first donned our old style Team Walker t- shirts. We didn’t really know the whys or wherefores but it did seem like a lot of fun! We had no idea that day of the glory that was yet to come!
I also remember our first board meeting outside the Briggs YMCA. The three of us agreed upon our purpose and direction, and I definitely felt the air stirring beneath us and fate gathering. That has turned into a surge!
We were soon joined by those awesome pioneers, Frankie and Valerie Powell. Other gifted swimmers then followed and continue to follow- And we aren’t finished yet!
Grown to 10, we won the Small Teams Division at the PNA SCY Champs in April, which was our first big meet! There were several more of us when we totally blew the doors off the Zone SC meters Champs at KCAC in November. Records were set people!
Now we are 20 and counting and 2016 promises to be a barn burner! Our truly wonderful Coach Heather, who has led and inspired us from the very beginning, has been joined in her coaching excellence by our fellow TWIMmer Coach Brian Guillen. So we now have two great coaches leading us forward!!! Wow, can it get any better?
As always, I am deeply humbled and honored to be in the company of such great swimmers and such great people! Every one of you is truly a Champion!
