TWIM’s Centralia Workout Group goes Adventuring in Alaska!

by Jessi Gable

Hello from the Centralia Workout Group!

We’ve just returned from an incredible adventure in Alaska and couldn’t wait to share some highlights.

A small group of us visited our teammate Corina and her family at their fish camp outside Akhiok on Kodiak Island. Over 10 unforgettable days, we immersed ourselves in everything the great Alaskan outdoors has to offer and kicked off the very first Deadman’s Bay Swimfest!

Swimming: We took on a number of swims in the cold, clear waters of Deadman’s Bay and Rodman Reach. Despite the chill, it was exhilarating!

(Chip the canine lifeguard kept us safe!)

Fishing: We spent days on the sea, enjoying the thrill of the catch.

Hiking: The “trails” around Kodiak Island offered breathtaking views and challenging hikes that tested our endurance.

Exploring: Every opportunity to explore the area around the fish camp was taken. We discovered the beauty of Kodiak’s landscape and wildlife.

Bonding: The best part of the trip was simply being together, sharing stories, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

This trip was more than just a break from our everyday lives; it was a chance to connect with nature and each other on a deeper level. If you ever get a chance to visit and swim around Kodiak Island, go for it. It’s an experience we’ll never forget.

Until our next adventure,

The Centralia Adventure Workout Group
