TWIM is ripping open 2016 with a passion! Our Beloved Coach Heather was the first to lay down the TWIM magic as she swam the One Hour ePostal on Saturday and killed it big time. This girl doesn’t even train, ladies and gentlemen! It would only hold her back! We’re proud of you Coach H! Meanwhile, Tammy dutifully took her splits and served as the Official USMS Observer at the event. Both of you are TWIM all the way!!!
On Sunday Coach Brian – in his TWIM coaching debut – guided four of us TWIMmers into aquatic action at the annual Anacortes Short Course Meters (SCM) meet. Once again we were a force to be reckoned with! Kudos to you Coach Brian! You helped each one of us swim faster!!!
Of course we set records again as Betsey “The Machine” Kassen and El Haynie blasted their way to new SCM records!
One of my vivid memories of Sunday is when I watched the H Man in the 200 Breast. He assured us beforehand that he was swimming events he usually doesn’t swim. My jaw was wide open when I witnessed him finish the race while the others were making the final turn. He finished a whole pool length ahead of everybody else! Amazing, but that’s the Haynie way!
Yes, TWIM, we all swam with courage and determination and had a blast in the process! That’s the TWIM way!

Saturday – Long Distance ePostal Series Challenge

Heather covered 3200 meters in one hour which converts to 3500 yards. This is a particularly awesome feat because Heather has not swum in a swim workout since she swam 3300m in the 3000 ePostal aka Heather’s 33rd Birthday Swim on October 31, 2015! How many of us would attempt an hour swim without a single swim workout in almost 3 months??
Interested? USMS holds five long distance ePostal championships each year: the One Hour, 5K, 10K, 3000 and 6000 events. Swimmers who complete all five championships in the same year will be sent a participation patch to honor their achievement.

Zena “the Blue Wave” Courtney set 2 new PNA records in the 200 IM and 200 Fly and would have set a 3rd in the 50 free if it wasn’t for Lisa Dahl!
Father Tom collected 94 pts for TWIM with his swims in the 200 Bk, 50 Bk, 100 Bk, 100 IM, and 400 Fr. He had blue ribbon performances in the backstroke events and looked especially strong in the free, too. Way to go, Tom!
Carl accumulated 97 pts with his 5 swims in the 50 Fr, 50 Fly, 200 Br, 50 Br, and 100 IM. He set a new PNA record in the 200m Breast (2:53.44). Old record: 2:59.05. Yahoo!
Betsey racked up 80 points with her four blue-ribbon performances in the 400 IM, 100 Fr, 50 Br, and 400 Fr. She set a new PNA record in the 50m Breast (46.82). Old record: 47.16. Yippee!
Thomas W Walker amassed oodles of points in his usual “animal” routine consisting of the 400IM, 200 Bk, 200 Br, 200 Fr, and 100 IM! He looked especially strong in the IM, breast, and free events. Way to go, MT!
