TWIM Volunteers at Special Olympics State Games!

by Dan Underbrink

Special Olympics of Washington held their Spring State Games on June 10, with the Swimming events being held at the King County Aquatic Center, and TWIM members were there in force, to help out at this worthy event.

The Swimming venue was the King County Aquatic Center

We helped out as officials (Holly Lickwala, Brad Jones, Steve Fogg) as Marshalls (Emily Castillo, her husband, Dave and her son, Sam) as a runner (Holly’s son, Nathan) and as timers (Scott Neuhaus and his wife, Joanie, Carl Haynie, Tom Walker, and Dan Underbrink). That’s 12 TWIM and TWIM family members in all!

The Special Olympics is all about the athletes, and a good part of the volunteer mission at this event was to encourage and cheer for the participants. We were witness to a huge community of support for these athletes, from their parents and other family members, and their coaches. It was very uplifting to be a part of this event.

We hope you will consider joining us, in a volunteer role, at future Special Olympics events. Here are pictures of some of the TWIM Volunteers:

Brad Jones – Meet Official
