Every once in a while, we get a Long Course Meters swim meet here in Western Washington and TWIM took advantage of the opportunity to swim one on July 1, at the King County Aquatic Center, in Federal Way.
Ten TWIM Water Warriors signed up for this event, and we came and swam our hearts out! That’s just what we do, right? The TWIM Squad consisted of Ruben Guerrero, Holly Lickwala, Colleen Wahlstrom, Maoz Alsberg, Brent Barnes, Dave Scott, Scott Neuhaus, Dan Underbrink, Steve Fogg, and Thomas Walker.

TWIM Women pretty much ruled the 45-49 age group, with Colleen Wahlstrom posting three first-place finishes – 100 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle, and 50 Butterfly – and Holly Lickwala with second place finishes in the 400 and the 50 Butterfly. Holly was first in the 100 Butterfly, making that stroke look so smooth!

Ruben Guerrero, swimming in the Men’s 30-34 age group was perfect with three first place finishes in the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke events.
TWIM had three swimmers in the Men’s 55-59 age group. Maoz Alsberg placed first in 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke and placed third in the 100 Freestyle. Brent Barnes swam five individual events, placing second in both the 50 and 100 Breaststroke events, fourth in the 50 Freestyle seventh in the 100 Freestyle and fifth in the 400 Freestyle. Dave Scott duplicated Ruben’s performance with first place finishes in all three Breaststroke events.

The Men’s 65-69 age group featured Scott Neuhaus and Dan Underbrink. Scott placed first in the 50 Breaststroke and second in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke and 100 Freestyle events. Dan received first place finishes in 100 and 200 Backstroke, 100 and 200 Breaststroke, and the 200 IM.
The Men’s 75-79 age group was strongly represented by Steve Fogg and Thomas Walker. Steve had first place finishes in all three of his events – 100 Freestyle, 50 backstroke, and 100 Backstroke. Thomas placed first in the 400 Freestyle and third in 50 Backstroke and 100 and 200 Breaststroke. He was also fourth in the 50 Breaststroke.

A huge thank you to Steve Fogg for stepping up and helping us get organized for our first place relay! It was a 200 Meter Freestyle Relay in the 240-279 Men’s age group, featuring Steve, Scott, Dan, and Maoz.
